Ultrasound lifting is generally known to focus ultrasound on one point, like a magnifying glass focusing sunlight, passing through the skin surface and creating small heat points in the layer below. As heated tissue contracts and recovers, new collagen forms, which may help with firmness.

The heat points are set to form not on the skin surface but at a set depth beneath it, and the depth may vary by area. Changes may appear over time rather than right after the treatment, to a degree that varies with skin condition.

A shot is one pulse of ultrasound from the device. How the 100 Doublo Gold shots on the price list are divided among areas is decided at your consultation based on the loose areas and skin thickness.

More shots can cover a wider area, but how many go to each area depends on skin thickness and the degree of loosening. Even with the same 100 shots, the plan changes depending on whether they are concentrated under the chin or spread evenly over both cheeks.

Doublo Gold is considered when loosening in one or two areas is a concern and you want a method without incisions.

Ultrasound lifting is generally considered for mild sagging, where tissue under the jawline or in the cheeks has loosened and the facial contour looks less defined, or when you feel your skin has lost firmness. If loosening is advanced, other methods are also considered at your consultation, and if the skin is very thin or the cheeks are lean, we first check whether it is suitable. A blurred facial contour is sometimes due to swelling or fat rather than sagging, so we tell these apart first at your consultation.

If you have inflammation or a wound in the treatment area, are pregnant, or have recently had filler or thread treatments on your face, please tell us in advance at your consultation. If you take blood-thinning medication you may bruise more easily, so please mention that too.

During the treatment you may feel a brief sting or heat each time a heat point forms, to a degree that varies by area and person. Redness, swelling and a dull ache are common afterwards and usually settle after a while.

Many people carry on with daily life the same day, but this varies from person to person. Rarely, bruising or temporary numbness may occur, so if numbness or pain lasts a long time, please contact the clinic. On the day of treatment, it is best to skip anything that heats the face, such as exercise that makes you sweat a lot, and to keep up moisturizing and sun protection.

More frequent Doublo Gold treatments are not necessarily better, so the next treatment is discussed when loosening starts to bother you again after the last one.

Whether to have it again is decided about every 6 months to 1 year, depending on your skin condition. The timing of the next treatment is decided at a consultation looking at your progress since the last treatment, age and skin condition, and how long firmness lasts varies from person to person.

Rather than rushing into the next treatment, it is best to first see how your skin has changed since the last one.
