About the Hydrating Skin Booster

The hydrating skin booster is a skin booster that generally injects hyaluronic acid evenly into the shallow layer of the skin, aiming to replenish moisture within the skin. It may suit people whose skin easily becomes dry and looks dull, or whose makeup often does not sit smoothly. After numbing cream is applied to the skin surface, small amounts are injected at many points across the treatment area with a fine needle. Miri Clinic's price list includes the hydrating skin booster (2 cc), 1 session.

Hyaluronic acid is a moisturizing component naturally found in the skin; because it draws in and holds water, it is used to care for dry skin texture and make it feel more hydrated. The Korean name, mulgwang ("water glow"), also comes from the way skin looks glossy, as if holding moisture.

Because the ingredient injected in the hydrating skin booster is hyaluronic acid, which holds onto moisture, the focus is on the glow and hydration of skin texture. Making a habit of applying moisturizer right after washing your face may also help with skin care.

What does hyaluronic acid do in the skin?

Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient naturally present in the skin and is known to hold onto moisture. With age or long exposure to dry environments, moisture in the skin can decrease and the skin may look dull; the hydrating skin booster aims to support hydrated skin texture by adding this ingredient directly to the skin.

The hydrating skin booster is not a treatment that changes the shape or volume of the face; it focuses on caring for moisture within the skin and skin texture. Unlike a moisturizer applied on the surface, the difference is that the ingredient is placed directly into the shallow layer of the skin.

What skin is it considered for?

The hydrating skin booster is generally considered for dry skin that easily feels tight after washing, flakes, or looks lacking in glow. It may suit you when dryness within the skin bothers you more than fine lines or firmness. If your skin is dry and also sensitive, reddening easily, your skin condition is examined first at your consultation before deciding whether to proceed.

Please let us know in advance at your consultation if you have inflamed acne or a wound in the treatment area, are pregnant, or have had an allergic reaction after an injection treatment before. If you are taking blood-thinning medication, please also tell us, as you may bruise more easily.

What happens first when I come in for the hydrating skin booster?

  • Skin assessment — we first check how dry your skin is, flaking, sensitive areas, recent procedures and current medications.
  • Cleansing and numbing cream — after your face is cleansed, numbing cream is spread on and you wait about 30 minutes for it to take effect.
  • Injection — the solution is placed evenly into the shallow skin layer, and the injection continues for about 10–20 minutes.
  • Soothing, then home — we soothe the treatment area, check your skin and you go home. The steps and times are a general guide and may vary from person to person.

What about recovery, and when can I wear makeup again?

Right after the treatment, the injection points may look bumpy and raised or turn red, and injection marks and swelling usually settle within 1–3 days. Makeup is usually worn from the next day, after a day has passed, and recovery varies from person to person.

Even with numbing cream, you may feel a sting during the injection. Taking care to moisturize so your skin does not dry out after the treatment may help recovery. It is best to postpone saunas and hot-room bathing that make you sweat a lot until the injection marks settle, and please follow the aftercare instructions for the exact timing.

What reactions should I watch for after the treatment?

Injection marks, swelling and bruising are common and usually settle on their own. Rarely, lumps may form or allergic reactions such as itching or hives may occur. If swelling and redness keep spreading or itching becomes severe, please contact the clinic without delay. If you bruise, leave it alone without rubbing, and have it checked at the clinic if it lasts a long time.

Can I have just one session, or how many sessions are usual?

You can also try the hydrating skin booster just once; if it is your first time, you may decide the number of sessions after seeing how your skin texture and makeup flaking change after one session.

Hyaluronic acid placed in the skin is absorbed over time, so it is often given several times at intervals rather than once. Generally about 3 sessions are given at intervals of about 3–4 weeks. The change in skin texture is observed as sessions go on, and how much you notice varies from person to person.

When to have it again after that depends on the season and how dry your skin is, so it is decided at a consultation based on your skin condition rather than a fixed cycle.

How much does the hydrating skin booster cost?

The hydrating skin booster is ₩69,000 for one session with 2 cc, plus 10% VAT on cosmetic procedures. If you plan to have several sessions, the next appointment is scheduled after checking your skin's response each time, and please confirm the number of sessions that suits your skin at your consultation.

Your exact diagnosis and treatment plan are decided at your consultation.

FAQ

Is the hydrating skin booster only for certain seasons?

It is not a treatment only for certain seasons; when to have it depends on how dry your skin gets and your schedule. If your skin feels unusually tight as the seasons change, please mention it at your consultation.

How should I wash my face on the day of the treatment?

It is best not to rub the injection points hard. Please follow the aftercare instructions for when and how to wash your face and use basic skincare products.

Will my skin feel hydrated right after the hydrating skin booster?

Right after the treatment, injection marks and swelling make it hard to judge skin texture, so your skin condition is assessed after the swelling settles. How much you notice and when vary depending on your skin condition.

Can I have it before an important event?

Injection marks and swelling usually take 1–3 days to settle, and this varies from person to person. It is better to leave some room rather than booking the day right before the event, so please share your schedule with us at your consultation.
