About the Juvelook Skin Booster

The Juvelook skin booster is a treatment that injects Juvelook, whose main ingredient is PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid), into the skin, aiming to encourage new collagen to form in the skin. It may suit people who feel they have more fine lines or that their skin is not as firm as before. After numbing cream is applied to the skin surface, it is injected evenly across the treatment area with a fine needle. Miri Clinic's price list includes Juvelook 1 cc, 2 cc and 3 cc.

Juvelook's PDLLA is a biodegradable polymer that breaks down slowly in the body, and it is known to support the process of collagen forming where it is injected. The amount is chosen from 1 cc, 2 cc or 3 cc depending on the size of the treatment area.

Juvelook is known to be a powder product that is dissolved and prepared before the treatment, and because collagen takes time to build up, the change is observed slowly over several weeks.

How does PDLLA work in the skin?

PDLLA is an ingredient that is slowly broken down and absorbed in the body. A reaction in which new collagen forms around the PDLLA placed in the skin is known to occur, so it may help with care for fine lines and skin firmness.

It does not fill the spot right away by the amount injected; instead it waits for your own skin's collagen to increase, so it is judged by the change over several weeks rather than how it looks right after the treatment.

Who might consider it?

Juvelook is generally considered when fine lines, along with skin that feels thinner and less firm, are a concern. Because the change appears gradually, it may suit people who can take time and have several sessions; if noticeable sagging or deep wrinkles are your concern, the right approach is decided after your skin condition is examined at your consultation.

Please let us know in advance if you have inflammation, a wound or a skin condition in the treatment area, are pregnant, or tend to scar easily, for example with keloids. If you are taking blood-thinning medication, please also tell us, as you may bruise more.

What is the flow on the day of Juvelook?

  • Consultation and planning — we check the areas where fine lines and firmness are a concern, your skin thickness and past treatment history, and decide how many cc to use.
  • Numbing cream — after cleansing, numbing cream is applied to the skin surface of the treatment area and you wait about 30 minutes for it to take effect.
  • Injection — Juvelook is placed evenly across the treatment area with a fine needle, which takes about 10–20 minutes.
  • Finishing — we soothe the injection points, explain what to watch out for after the treatment and you go home. The steps and times are a general guide and may vary from person to person.

How many days do swelling and injection marks last?

You may feel a sting or a dull ache during the injection, and how much varies from person to person. Injection marks and swelling usually settle within 2–3 days after the treatment, and many people wear makeup from the next day. It is best to allow plenty of time in your schedule, including the time spent waiting with numbing cream on.

How quickly it settles varies from person to person. It is best not to press hard on or rub the treatment area, and please follow the aftercare instructions for when you can use a sauna or do strenuous exercise.

Can something be felt under the skin after the treatment?

Injection marks, swelling and bruising are common and mostly settle on their own. Rarely, a small lump may be felt at an injection point; this is a known reaction to polylactic acid-based injections. If what you feel lasts a long time, seems to be getting bigger, or becomes red and painful, please have it checked at the clinic.

When will I notice a change, and how many sessions do I have?

Because collagen takes time to form, the change is often felt gradually over several weeks rather than right after the treatment. It is generally given 2–3 times at intervals of about 4 weeks, and the number of sessions is decided at your consultation based on your skin condition. If you want to compare how much has changed, one option is to take photos in the same lighting before the treatment.

How long the change in your skin lasts varies from person to person depending on age, skin condition and lifestyle, so it is hard to say in advance. Whether to have it again is decided at a consultation after seeing how things go following the last session.

How much does Juvelook cost per cc?

Juvelook is ₩99,000 for 1 cc, ₩190,000 for 2 cc and ₩290,000 for 3 cc, plus 10% VAT on cosmetic procedures. The amount that suits your treatment area and skin condition is decided at your consultation.

Whatever the number of cc, it is often given in sessions about 4 weeks apart rather than finished in one go, so please check the total number of sessions and cost together at your consultation.

Your exact diagnosis and treatment plan are decided at your consultation.

FAQ

What is the difference between Juvelook 1 cc, 2 cc and 3 cc?

The cc on the price list is the amount of Juvelook used in one session. A larger area may need more to cover it evenly, so the amount is decided at your consultation based on the treatment area and your skin condition.

When can I drink alcohol after the treatment?

Alcohol can make swelling and bruising last longer, so it is best to avoid it until the swelling settles. Please follow the aftercare instructions for when you can drink again.

Can I have it if I have had filler or botulinum toxin before?

If you have had injection treatments before, the timing of Juvelook may be adjusted depending on the area and when you had them. Please tell us at your consultation which treatment you had, when and where.

How should I care for my skin during the 2–3 sessions?

It is best to keep up basic care such as moisturizing and sun protection. Treatments that irritate the skin, such as lasers or peels, are best scheduled so they do not overlap with the intervals between Juvelook sessions, so please plan them together at your consultation.
