Red scar and pore treatment at Miri Clinic

About Red Acne Marks & Pores

Red acne mark and pore care uses lasers to address red marks left after acne settles, as well as enlarged nose pores and blackheads. It may suit people whose acne marks stay red for a long time or who are bothered by pores and blackheads around the nose, and it is done after applying numbing cream. Miri Clinic's price list includes fractional laser (Fraxel®, nose), 1 session, and vascular laser (Cynergy™, red marks), 1 session, and both items include recovery care.

How are red marks different from depressed scars?

Redness often remains for a while where acne inflammation has settled, and this is known to be because small blood vessels in the area the inflammation passed through have dilated. If the skin surface has not sunken and only the color remains red, it is closer to a red mark.

A scar where the skin is sunken reflects a loss of tissue beneath the skin, so it may be treated differently from red marks. Which type your marks are, or whether both are mixed, is checked first at your consultation.

How does Cynergy treat red marks?

Vascular lasers used for red marks are generally known to work by having light energy absorbed by the reddish blood vessels, helping shrink dilated small vessels and lighten redness. Cynergy is the laser item listed on Miri Clinic's price list as “Cynergy (red marks)”.

How much the redness fades depends on how long ago the mark formed, your skin tone and how red it is, so progress is often followed over several sessions rather than one.

How is Fraxel (nose) used for pores?

A fractional laser is known to work by delivering the laser in tiny dot-like points across the skin, prompting the surrounding skin to fill in and renew the small areas the laser touched. This process may help with skin texture and enlarged pores.

Fraxel (nose), 1 session, on the price list targets the nose area and includes blackhead care and recovery care.

Who might consider it?

It may suit people whose acne has mostly settled but whose red marks stay for a long time, or whose nose pores look enlarged and often fill with blackheads. If inflamed acne is still breaking out a lot, care to settle the acne first is sometimes also discussed.

Please let us know in advance if you have recently been heavily tanned by the sun, have a wound or inflammation in the treatment area, are pregnant, or are taking acne medication.

What is the flow on the day?

  • Skin check — we check your red marks and pores, past laser treatments and medications you take, and decide which items you will receive.
  • Numbing cream — after cleansing, numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and we wait for it to take effect.
  • Laser — the laser is applied to the chosen areas; Fraxel (nose) includes blackhead care.
  • Recovery care and going home — recovery care soothes the skin, and you go home after hearing what to watch out for after the procedure. It takes about 40–60 minutes including anesthesia. The order and timing are general guidance and may vary from person to person.

How long do redness and scabs last after the laser?

Redness and swelling are common after the procedure and usually settle over about 1–3 days, while fine flaking or fine scabs may continue for about a week. Recovery varies from person to person.

Rarely, hyperpigmentation, blisters or bruising may occur. Do not pick off fine scabs, and it is best to keep up moisturizing and sun protection carefully. If redness or pain keeps getting worse, or blisters form, please contact the clinic.

How many sessions, and how much does it cost?

Red marks and pores are generally treated several times, about 3–4 weeks apart, and the number of sessions is decided at your consultation based on the condition of your marks and pores.

Fraxel (nose), 1 session, is ₩75,000 and includes blackhead care and recovery care. Cynergy (red marks), 1 session, is ₩250,000, the per-session cost when done as a 3-session package, and includes recovery care. Both prices are plus 10% VAT on cosmetic procedures.

Your exact diagnosis and treatment plan are decided at your consultation.

FAQ

Do I have to get all 3 sessions of Cynergy (red marks)?

The ₩250,000 on the price list is the per-session cost when done as a 3-session package. How much the redness fades differs from person to person, so the number of sessions is decided at your consultation based on the condition of your marks.

Can I get laser treatment in summer too?

Some people have it regardless of the season, but skin after a laser is sensitive to sunlight, and hyperpigmentation may develop. If it is a period when you spend a lot of time outdoors, please talk with us about a sun-protection plan at your consultation as well.

Can I get Fraxel (nose) and Cynergy on the same day?

Whether to have both items together depends on how sensitive your skin is and the condition of your marks and pores. We decide the order and dates at your consultation after looking at your skin.

When can I wash my face and wear makeup after the procedure?

When you can start cleansing and wearing makeup depends on the treatment intensity and your skin condition, so please follow the aftercare instructions. Do not rub the treated area; it is best to wash it lightly with a mild cleanser.

Do blackheads come back after care?

Blackheads are sebum in the pores that looks black when exposed to air, so they can come back after care depending on sebum production. Thorough cleansing and using products less likely to clog pores may help with care.
