About IV Drip Therapy

IV drip therapy is an injection in which a drip mixed with medication is slowly given into a vein through a fine needle. It may suit people who feel fatigue has built up and would like to try a drip; whether to have it and which injection to have are decided after your physical condition is checked at your consultation. It is given in a comfortable position without anesthesia and takes about 20–60 minutes depending on the type and amount. Miri Clinic's price list includes the Baekok injection, Cindella injection and cocktail injection, 1 session each.

What are the Baekok and Cindella injections?

The name Baekok injection is generally used for an injection whose main ingredient is glutathione, and Cindella injection (often also called the Cinderella injection) for one whose main ingredient is thioctic acid (alpha-lipoic acid). Both ingredients are known to be substances related to antioxidant activity in the body, and thioctic acid is also a medicinal ingredient used to treat other conditions.

However, drips for cosmetic purposes have no efficacy or schedule set by an approval, so the changes people feel after a drip also vary from person to person. Please confirm the names and amounts of the medications used at Miri Clinic at your consultation.

How is the cocktail injection different?

The cocktail injection is the item described on the price list as "a mix of 5 medications, including Baekok and Cindella". It adds three other medications to the ingredients of the Baekok and Cindella injections and is given all at once; please be sure to confirm the names and amounts of the remaining medications at your consultation.

Because several medications are mixed and given together, please let us know in advance if you have ever had reactions such as hives or itching after an injection or medication. If it is your first drip, you can also discuss at your consultation whether to check your body's response first with a single injection.

Is there anything I should tell you before the drip?

If you have a heart or kidney condition, the volume of fluid entering a vein may put a strain on your body, so it is known to be best to consult first at your visit before having a drip.

Please also tell us in advance if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking any medications or health supplements, or have ever felt dizzy or fainted while having an injection. If you feel different from usual that day, please let us know that too.

In what order is the drip given?

  • Medical questionnaire — we check how you feel today, any conditions you have, medications you take and allergies, and decide which injection to give.
  • Finding a vein — we find a vein in your arm, disinfect the area, insert a fine needle and secure it with tape so it does not come out when you move.
  • Having the drip — the drip goes in slowly while you rest in a comfortable position, taking about 20–60 minutes depending on the type and amount. If you feel any discomfort during the drip, please tell us right away.
  • Stopping the bleeding and going home — we remove the needle, press on the needle site to stop the bleeding and you go home. The steps and times are a general guide and may vary from person to person.

What reactions can occur during or after the drip?

Bruising at the needle site or a dull ache in the arm is common and usually settles with time. Rarely, nausea or allergic reactions such as hives or itching may occur.

If you develop nausea or itching or feel short of breath during the drip, do not put up with it — tell the medical staff right away. After you go home, if the needle site swells and feels warm or redness spreads, please contact the clinic.

How often should I have it?

There is no set answer to how often you should have IV drip therapy, so each time we first check how you feel that day before deciding.

Drips for cosmetic purposes have no set schedule, so whether to have one again and the interval are decided at your consultation based on your condition and how you responded last time.

There is often no separate downtime after a drip, but if you felt dizzy or heavy during the drip, please rest for a while before going home. A drip cannot replace enough sleep and meals, so if fatigue continues for a long time, it is best to have the cause looked into at a medical consultation.

How much does IV drip therapy cost?

IV drip therapy costs ₩50,000–₩100,000 per session depending on the injection you choose (plus 10% VAT on cosmetic procedures).

The Baekok injection and the Cindella injection are each ₩50,000 per session, and the cocktail injection is ₩100,000 per session, plus 10% VAT on cosmetic procedures. Because the cocktail injection includes Baekok and Cindella, you can choose at your consultation, based on your condition, whether to have them one at a time or as a cocktail.

Your exact diagnosis and treatment plan are decided at your consultation.

FAQ

Can I come on an empty stomach?

Having an injection after going without food for a long time can make you feel dizzy, so it is best to have a light meal before coming. If you could not eat because your stomach was upset, please tell us before the drip.

Can I drive right after the drip?

As the injection is given without anesthesia, there is often no separate rest time afterward. However, if you had dizziness or nausea during or after the drip, please rest well and make sure you feel fine before moving on.

What should I do if the needle site bruises?

Pressing firmly on the needle site after the needle is removed may help reduce bruising. Bruises usually fade over time; if the area swells, hurts or redness spreads, please let the clinic know.

Can I have a drip on the same day as a skin treatment?

Some people would like to have both on the same day; whether this is possible and the order are decided based on the procedure you are having that day and your condition. Letting us know when booking which treatments you would like together helps us allow enough time.
